Chris Larios, cornet

Chris Larios founded the Dominion Brass Quartet in 2017, inspired by his time performing as principal cornet with the Fountain City Brass Band from 2008 to 2019, including two international tours and several contests. During his time with FCBB Chris was awarded first prize in the North American Brass Band Association High Brass Slow Melody (2018) and Technical Solo (2019) Competition. Since 2017, Chris has served as a trumpeter/cornetist in the U.S. Marine Band, and in 2022 joined the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra as principal trumpet. He has also performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Washington Chorus, the Charleston Symphony, the Alabama Symphony, the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra, the Aspen Music Festival, and the National Repertory Orchestra.

Chris has bachelor degrees in performance and composition from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a master’s degree in performance from Northwestern University. His notable teachers include Keith Benjamin, Joseph Parisi, Charlie Geyer, Barbara Butler, and David King.

Robert Bonner, cornet

Robert Bonner earned his bachelor of music degree in music education from Texas Tech University and a master's degree in music performance in 2014 from Colorado State University. His notable teachers are Justin Bartels of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Ray Mase of the Aspen Music Festival, Jeffrey Meyer, and Max Matzen. Mr. Bonner has performed with the Colorado and Fort Collins Symphony Orchestras, the Minnesota Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Aspen Music Festival Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, and the National Orchestral Institute Orchestra in College Park, Md. Robert now proudly serves as a member of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band. 

Chris Reaves, tenor horn

Chris Reaves began his musical instruction on piano at age nine and trombone at age 11. He graduated in 2003 from Widefield High School in Colorado Springs where he studied with Sondra Bell. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music from The Juilliard School in New York in 2007 where he studied with Joe Alessi, principal trombone with the New York Philharmonic. He also studied with Jan Kagarice in 2010 while pursuing an artist certificate at the University of North Texas in Denton. In February 2013 Chris joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. Prior to joining the band, Reaves performed with the Harlem Symphony Orchestra and the Manhattan Symphonie, both in New York, and freelanced in Colorado Springs, New York, and in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Hiram Diaz, euphonium

Hiram Diaz is a euphoniumist, trombonist, vocalist and music educator. Hiram first began his training at age 12, and after graduating from the New World School of the Arts High School in Miami, he earned a bachelor's degree in music performance from the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. His teachers include Tim Northcut of the Dayton Philharmonic, Jay Bertolet, former principal tuba with the Florida Philharmonic, and Brian Bowman of the University of North Texas.

During his education, Hiram won the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference Artist Euphonium Competition (2008), placed second at the Leonard Falcone International Artist Euphonium Competition (2008), and received an honorable mention at the first international Concours de Tuba Tours, in Tours, France (2014). 

 

He has been a featured soloist at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference, and on tour with “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. He has performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, the Washington Symphonic Brass and the Dayton Philharmonic. Hiram proudly serves as a euphoniumist in “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, a position he has held since 2012.
